Be the Light - Pause Annual Gala September 9th
To be the light means in times of darkness you offer hope, encouragement, kindness and compassion. It can also mean taking the weight off - showing up when things feel heavy and simply helping to carry what they hold.
Where others are struggling with self-doubt, self-esteem and self-love, being the light offers a way to help them to regain confidence, joy, connection and worth so they can shine again - and - it’s helping them believe it’s possible in the first place. Light helps us feel safe and secure. It can signify new beginnings, hope, and opportunity. It lights the way, gives direction and exposes new possibilities.
And…sometimes to “Be the Light” means to carry on the torch for what needs to be completed or be made new. It can signal endurance, momentum and inspire others to see new perspectives.
You are invited to Be the Light for special needs families at our annual fundraising gala event on Saturday, September 9th.
We are turning the traditional gala on its head to bring fun and inspiration in a different way - we can’t wait for you to be a part of it! #SaveTheDate
Why does your “yes” matter?
Special needs parents can spend an additional 35-40 hours a week in care alone of a child with complex needs. Most suffer from physical fatigue, emotional stress and/or emotional upset or guilt.
Respite is a preventive strategy that strengthens families, protects family health and wellbeing, decreases feelings of isolation and improves the family’s ability to cope with daily responsibilities.
Respite can: allow individuals to remain in their own home, prevent costly out-of-home placements, keep all family members safe & stable, and preserve family unity by decreasing pressures that might lead to abuse/neglect, institutionalization and divorce.
We know Pause is changing the story.
When engaged in the events and support Pause provides, 87% of families have increased family functioning and resilience (their ability to navigate difficulty) and 95% have increased social support. The services Pause provides families are FREE because of people like you.
“My kids ask weekly when the next Pause event is. It’s not only the fun activities and the amazing staff, but I think it’s the opportunity for them to relax because mom and dad are relaxed. We know they are well looked after and can either dive into the activity or have a peaceful time away. Pause has built a beautiful organization that’s helped us in so many ways, connection, fun, acceptance…I could go on and on. Thank you and I’m so thankful for the wonderful team you’ve built!!” - Pause mom
