Meet Emily!

Volunteer with Pause and leave a legacy. Make an impact. Be the change. These may seem like cliché phrases that all organizations say to get volunteers. At Pause, these phrases are actually true and the impact is instantaneous.

When you volunteer with Pause you aren’t just babysitting for 3 hours. You are a safe and supportive person in the life of a Pause kiddo. By coming back each month you are showing our kiddos that they matter to you and they are worthy of extravagant love.

When you volunteer with Pause you aren’t just giving a caregiver a breather. You are showing them it is okay (and encouraged!) to focus on themselves so they can show up better for their kids. You are giving them space to do chores they never could have done with their kids around like buying and planting a new tree or bringing out the ladder to check off chores in high places. You are showing them that their kiddos are accepted and belong in an organization outside of home and school.

When you volunteer with Pause you aren’t just helping a family out. You are actively strengthening families, protecting their health and wellbeing, decreasing feelings of isolation and improving the family’s ability to cope with daily responsibilities. You are allowing individuals to remain in their own home, preventing costly out-of-home placements, keeping all family members safe & stable, and preserving family unity by decreasing pressures that might lead to abuse/neglect, institutionalization and divorce.

When you volunteer with Pause, you are instantly making a life changing impact. And we don’t take that lightly.

To further pour support and love into our volunteers, we have hired our very own Volunteer Coordinator - Emily Denlinger! Thanks to the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund for making this possible! Emily loves to spend time with friends and family and do anything outdoors! She enjoys hiking and camping with her husband and their fur babies. She is heavily involved at her church, Crossroads, as a student ministry and young adult leader (and she loves it!). Emily also enjoys reading a good book, especially if it's with an iced coffee sitting on her porch! #TheLife

What are you most excited about in your role with Pause?
I am most excited about working with and for people in our community! Getting to serve and love on people where they are at… it fills me up.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? How did that play out in what you are doing now?
Growing up I wanted to be a vet or nurse, but tapped out when I realized I'm not one for blood. However, at the core, I wanted to do something that helped others and made an impact which I believe my role here at Pause will do!

When you think about who you were intricately designed to be, how will you be a benefit to the families and volunteers we serve?
I have always been organized, detail-oriented, a natural leader and service minded which I think have set me up well for my new role. I also have a heart for high school and college age students which is so sweet since that's a typical age range for our volunteers.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Coffee. Too literal? Having a job where I get to meet others needs, love on people and be a part of a team that's making such a huge impact is a joy for me.

What do you want our Pause families to know about you?
I am excited to meet them and their kids and hope to serve them well!

Emily - thank YOU for pouring so much into our families, kiddos and volunteers! You are a joy and we are so fortunate you are on our team!
