An Impact That Lasts
When you think of volunteering with Pause you might think of attending Parent’s Day or Night Out on the weekend to spend 3 hours with pretty great kids, running an activity or station at one of our annual family fun events like the Holiday Shoppe or the Easter Eggstravaganza or even virtually hanging out with a buddy and making a friend!

There are SO many other ways to use your skills to make an impact on a child’s life including physically building a safe and secure environment. Rockstar volunteers, Amber and John Cecree, know ALL about that! They poured hours of their time to help Pause create a new and fun environment for our kiddos! We’re often told that the “Backyard” aka the room with the trampoline, rock wall, swing set, climbing dome, tree house, and ZIPLINE is the most fun room at Pause! #WeTotallyAgree In large part - this is thanks to Amber and John (and John’s dad Jim, too!)
Amber and John are long time members of Center Pointe Christan Church and when they heard of Pause’s dream of bringing a “Backyard” inside - they brought it to life! The couple has been married for 17 years and have three lovely children - Alli, Charlotte and Andrew. They shared with us that construction has always been a part of their lives and marriage! Amber and John know that their gift can be used to serve others and open opportunities to have relationships with families in their community! #HowCool
We asked them about their experience as a Pause volunteer…
Why did you choose to volunteer with Pause?
As parents we understand the uniqueness of each of our children. Pause shows Christ’s love to families in need whether it’s on a Sunday morning at church or a needed date night to recharge or unwind.
Why is it important for you to give your time and talent to Pause?
We saw an opportunity to serve an organization that is building relationships with families in our community that holds a special place in our hearts.
What is your favorite part about volunteering with Pause?
Celebrating with them as they continue to grow and support families in need.
What is your favorite project you helped create in our new Pause space?
Our favorite has to be the zip line…duh!!
Do you feel like you're making an impact?
Yes, a small one. We have been able to help equip the people who are actively making a difference in Pause family lives.
We see the smiles on kids' faces when they say, “Again, again, again!” after they ride the zipline.
We see the pride in their eyes when they say, “I did it!” after climbing the rock wall, or in the, “Wahooo” when sliding down the slide hands first and when they shout “Look at me!” when they are swinging as high as they can.
We also hear it in the, “Wow, you all really do care about us” comments we receive every time we give a tour to the new families we serve.
Amber and John - you have given our Pause families kiddos the gift of joy. The space to get their wiggles out. The freedom to explore. The space you created will continue to impact our kiddos years down the road. Thank YOU for sharing your gift with us.
