How Can We Help?

Have you ever used a professional service where they gave you a cookie-cutter list of ways they support families? Did you ever find that the services they provided didn’t actually help or support your family? We get it. Life circumstances don’t always fit into a neat box where you can fill out a form and get relief.  At Pause, we have ditched the list of options for the simple question, “How can we help?” Fortunately, Pause has the ability to be creative and innovative about how to help families and meet them where they are because of our CAN DO Network!

The best way for a family to share their needs is by participating in a Pause Family Conversation. These conversations are a time for a family to share their story.  We address specific family needs and prioritize what is important to the caregiver. Many of our CAN DO requests come from these really special and powerful conversations.

Recently, we met with a single Pause mom, Ava, who constantly felt she was placing her child’s needs above her own. She shared that she wasn't caring for herself and prioritizing her own self-care. She felt disconnected and needed professional support to care for her own mental health, but because all of her extra funds went to ways to support her daughter, she could not afford a professional therapist. She knew that seeking professional help would help her to better care for her daughter.  Such truth in these words and such wisdom from our Pause mama!  We believe that by filling the cup of our caregivers, we are better equipping them to care for their kids and, in turn, the family will have better outcomes.

Finding a therapist to offer FREE services may seem far fetched to most - but not for the CAN DO network. Pause was able to connect Ava to a therapist, free of charge, and allow her to take much needed time to herself.  She is gaining tools and building resilience - all to better support her family.

This Pause mama was able to let her strength and courage shine by advocating for her unique needs AND she was able to show her daughter that it’s okay to be vulnerable and ask for help.  She’s hero status in our book.

THIS is CAN DO. This is community. This is YOUR support.
