Is Three Hours a Big Deal?
When you say, “Yes” to giving three hours of your time, you aren’t just saying yes to service. You’re giving hope. You’re spreading joy. You’re shifting the trajectory of someone’s life. Like real life human lives!
Three hours might not seem like much of a break - but actually, it gives families the opportunity to rest, recover and show up for their kids in a more regulated way.
In February and March, Pause had the pleasure of providing 80 kids with fun and 81 caregivers with rest at our Parent’s Day & Night Out events. This was made possible by over 64 volunteers who decided to give three hours of their time and show up BIG for families.
But how big was that simple three hours?
One Pause mama said, “It was definitely weird walking away from <Pause> and leaving the kids to stay there. But each time has gotten a little easier. And each time we're learning to breathe more deeply. I know we don't have Pause day outs often- but the few times we've done it- we have grown as parents so much. It has never felt good to leave the kids anywhere- we feel like a burden.
This is the first place we were reminded that our kids were made in God’s image and that they have a place at the table. I don't have to worry. They love my kids for exactly who they are. And they see us as parents. Tired parents that need a break. I know we don't have to do anything to be fully accepted by Pause. And that is a freedom that I didn't even know I needed. It is slowly spilling into other areas of my life.”
