Make an Impact
Okay, okay. We know the risk of a statement like “when you volunteer with Pause you alter the course of a person’s life forever” is that it could resemble a corny Hallmark movie line. #DontComeAtUs The truth is, we have real life stories hitting our inbox every single week. Sometimes we see a family change in tremendous ways and sometimes the volunteers themselves change. In fact, here are some things volunteers have said to us about the Pause impact:
“I’ve become more confident.”
“I became more understanding of others.”
“I’m a better person.”
“I’ve become more fearless.”
“I became more patient with others.”
“Feel like I can make a difference.”
“I’m inspired to help more.”
“I became more confident in myself.”
Have you ever said yes to helping with something and immediately regretted it? Been there, done that, have the t-shirt in 22 colors, right? Most of the time it’s because our heart is authentically in it, but the task involves doing something that drains our bucket instead of filling it. Do you know that 98% of our volunteers come back to volunteer again? That’s a number worth paying attention to, so we dug a little deeper to find out why.
When our volunteers say yes to a long term service commitment with Pause, they become part of our Impact Partner squad. Impact Partners often take the passions, gifts and skills they already have and marry them to the needs of our program. It makes their volunteering experience fun, impactful AND something they love doing!
Stacy Dickman is the definition of an Impact Partner. She has served with Pause for the past several years. Stacy has a passion for helping others create experiences. In fact, when she jumps on board to help, she always leads our planning meetings with one question: “What do you want people to FEEL when they experience this event?” She takes that knowledge and what she has been wired to do and makes the best kind of magical things happen.
Put simply, Stacy creates joy. She brings smiles to the faces of our families, volunteers and our team and has fun doing it. Her creativity brought Candyland to life at the Holiday Shoppe drive-through event last December. She helped with our Easter Eggstravaganza event and most recently, Stacy has committed to lead the revitalization of Pause’s new event space!
Stacy’s vision to create safe, intentional and comforting spaces for Pause is coming to life already! Donations are rolling in and rooms are transforming before our eyes. Soon, Pause will have a space to not only CALL home, but one that will FEEL like home - all thanks to Stacy’s hard work and continued support. Her fingerprint will be left on Pause for years to come.
Want to link arms with Stacy? Check out her small business Facebook page or Etsy shop - Doodles and Dust Design Company.
Stacy has taken her passion and used it to help Pause in many different ways and YOU CAN TOO! Are you passionate about cutting hair? Photography? Creative arts? Health and wellness? We can mix ANY passion with a way to benefit our Pause community. Reach out to Jaclin Baker at jaclin.baker@pauseforparents.org for more information.
It’s probably easy to see what Stacy has done. But, what would we have missed if Stacy had not jumped in? Our guess is, we would have missed a lot.
This is CAN DO. This is COMMUNITY. This is YOUR SUPPORT.
